Our Story
Jolly Hands has its humble beginning in 2014 as a personal endeavor founded by Khai Doanh and Patrick, a team of sister and brother respectively aged eight and five at the time.
Upon hearing stories told by their parents and a family friend, the sibling duo learned that there were many children in Vietnam who were unable to purchase essential necessities for everyday life due to their family economic backgrounds. Khai Doanh and Patrick were moved especially by the fact that these children didn’t have enough clothes to wear. They were at the developmental stage of growing taller and eventually being too big to fit their clothes. Consequently, the lack of clothing left these children cold during the winter months.
Immediately the sibling set out to collect gently used clothes from the people around them, and donated them to a group of underprivileged children living in the poor mountainous areas of Northern Vietnam. In 2015, another successful drive of collecting gently used clothes and donating them was completed.
After the success of two drives, Jolly Hands extended its giving to schools. In 2016, , the sibling opened up their own piggy banks to secure funds for building boxes full of art and school supplies, given to the orphan children living in the poor area of Vietnam.
The true mission of Jolly Hands began in 2017, when Khai Doanh and Patrick once again learned that the children living in the rural, mountainous areas of Vietnam had never eaten candies before, especially lollipops. When they were offered lollipops, these children got so overly excited about trying the candies for the first time that they placed the lollipops in their mouth without removing the wrappers.
Hearing such story motivated the sibling to bestow joy in goodie bags filled with whatever contents that are inspired by a cause or an organization, for those in need. In 2017, Jolly Hands decided to expand our effort by offering our community a chance to give back. With the generosity of our donors and supporters, we made sure to package goodie bags full of lollipops and yummy treats for the children of various regions in Vietnam that year.
Today, Jolly Hands has powered happiness for all by creating and gifting hundreds of goodie bags to hundreds of children and people, locally and internationally.
